Work full-time while completing your degree

Designed for working paraprofessionals and school support professionals in Nevada public and charter schools, students complete their degree while continuing to work full time and earning a paycheck.

Accelerated coursework and program flexibility

In as little as one year, students complete all required coursework to earn a degree and complete the requirements to apply for educator licensure in Nevada. 

Continuous support services

Students receive concierge support and success coaching to help smooth the path along the way to reaching their academic goals.

Do I qualify?

You may qualify for the Undergraduate Apprenticeship Program if you:

*Applicants who have not completed the required general education coursework may be admitted in the Undergraduate Pre-Apprenticeship Program under the condition that they complete the core coursework before beginning the Undergraduate Apprenticeship Program.  

**Applicants not currently employed in a school setting may be admitted under the condition that they begin working in a school setting before the start of the upcoming K-12 school semester.

Undergraduate Apprenticeship Timeline

Apply to Our program

All prospective regardless of general education status apply to the Undergraduate Apprenticeship Program (UAP).

In the UNLV Admissions Portal, choose “Start a UAP Application” — this will ensure that you apply to our program and that your documents are reviewed correctly.

Application & Transcript Review

All potential apprentices’ transcripts and prior coursework (if applicable) are reviewed during the application process. Your transcripts cannot be reviewed without applying.

Completed within approx. 3-4 weeks of submission — Students are asked to keep an eye on their emails for updates!

Employment in a nevada school 

Apprentices must be employed in a Nevada public or charter school as a paraprofessional or school support professional for the duration of their Apprenticeship Program

Complete Coursework

Depending on the courses needed and academic program, apprentices will be enrolled in 4- and 8-week blocks of courses to complete all program and licensure requirements.

Typically, students need 3-4 semesters of coursework to complete the program. However, our team enrolls you in all the courses you need!

5.

Graduate & Apply for licensure

When all courses have been completed successfully, apprentices graduate with a bachelor’s degree in their program area and can apply for a provisional license with the Nevada Department of Education.

6.

Teach in a Nevada school!

Students who successfully complete their apprenticeship will be eligible for licensure and employable in their subject areas. Many of our students continue working as teachers of record in the schools where they had previously served as paraprofessionals.
